Hollie & Craig's City Wedding | Sheffield

A few previews from a cracking day at Yellow Arch Studios with this totally lovely pair. Spot the moment when the best man tells quite possibly the most graphically embarrassing story I've heard at a wedding so far!

Hollie started her day with the ever awesome Jenn and Natty of Jenn Edwards & Co who created a super strong lip look and wild curls topped by a fierce foliage crown that made her look like a vision from A Midsummer Nights Dream!

Hollies beautiful dress is actually a two piece by Martina Liana from Emily Bridal in Sheffield

"I’d had a few friends and colleagues recommend Emily to me when we got engaged. When I saw they did a separates range I knew that I’d want to be trying that out. So many people said that I wouldn’t go for the kind of dress I imagined I would, but I did. The Shae skirt was amazing, an absolute dream skirt which I would wear every day if I could get away with it."

"One of my best friend’s husbands provided my transport on the day in his Landrover Defender. He had trimmed it up with ribbons and bunting, and turned his centre console into an ice bucket containing a mini bottle of champagne and two glasses for myself and my dad. As we set off, he pressed play on The Dixie Cups, Chapel of Love. Fab start to the day!"

Hollie & Craig chose Yellow Arch Studios in Sheffield for their wedding, a super cool urban venue with lovely outdoor and indoor spaces.

"We met in Sheffield, and LOVE Sheffield as a city – it has a distinctive style (steel city chic?). We were looking at venues and Yellow Arch just stood out as having that Sheffield style. We wanted a laid back venue which was a little different, with room for everyone we loved – Yellow arch ticked all the boxes."

Hollie on her floral (or non floral) choices

"I had zero interest in a colour theme, and didn’t have a favourite flower or anything like that, but I did have a penchant for foliage. Tracey, of Campbells Flowers, provided gorgeous bouquets and crown, along with a beautifully decorated scaffold-pole arch for the ceremony in all shades of green and all manner of textures. Our tables were decorated with swags of eucalyptus and succulents dotted throughout. Genius florist, and you couldn’t find a more lovely lady."

"Everything exceeding our expectations! We’d taken a slight chance with the venue not being a traditional “wedding” venue (it normally hosts live music/club nights) so I was a little nervous, but on the day everything came together so well that we were just delighted by every little things. It was a perfect day. Our ceremony was one of my favourite parts, it was so personal and fitting. The best feeling is walking back down the aisle, newly married, with everyone you love cheering you on. I could do it again tomorrow! The only thing I would perhaps of done differently… is when we were asked how late we wanted the venue til, I wish we’d gone for the 6am option rather than 1am – it went SO QUICKLY!! Our guests favourite part was probably Craig’s almost full monty on the dancefloor. He has a habit of stripping at every wedding we’re invited to, so it was inevitable that he’d perform a show stopping strip at his own wedding! His mum had to intervene before he revealed a bit too much…"

- pretty gutted that I'd already left by this point (sigh)

"Our wedding was mainly inspired by Sheffield, all of our suppliers were local and we wanted it to be a bit of a celebration of our love of the city where we live.

Our styling on the day was handled by Flick of Inner City Weddings and we let her have free reign! She provides a full set up and co-ordination services, along with tables/chairs/décor and props so can transform any space into something beautiful"

Kind words from the lovely Hollie & Craig...

"Shelley is another person that I had been following for a while on Instagram before we even got engaged and I always thought that she was exactly who I wanted if we got married one day. The absolute bonus was that she worked in the same office as Flick along with my Hair and make up ladies. Shelley’s photos are PERFECT. They absolutely captured the essence of the day, without any of those scripted posed photographs that you see from other photographers. Not that there’s anything wrong with them if that’s what you like but they are not for me! Between her, and her associate Priscilla, they have told the entire story of our day through film, bits that we didn’t get to see, such as my Dad with my tiny 4 week old nephew. The photos of myself and Craig are beyond what I could have imagined, we went on a whirlwind tour of some imaginative Sheffield spots in Shelley’s tiny mini (it’s a good job I wasn’t wearing a meringue!). The ones taken above the Sheffield skyline were taken at the edge of the abandoned Ski village! To get there we tramped across the park, cheered on by local youths on off road motorcycles!! The result was an incredible memento of the day, and more fun in front of the camera than I could have imagined."

Cheers to you guys, this was one of my favourite weddings ever!!

- Shelley
